Link play patches
Two small patches for ModRetro Tetris v1.4 only, made to play over the internet on a Chromatic with Shiny Relay. You patch your own copy: pick your ROM file, this page patches it in your browser and gives you the patched file to save. Nothing is uploaded.
What they do
- NO-WAIT 2-PLAYER: 2-player modes over Shiny Relay without waiting on the link, so inputs do not lag. Start MULTIPLAYER, then HOST on one Chromatic and JOIN on the other, as always. On a real link cable the game plays as before.
- PARTY BATTLE: adds PARTY to the MULTIPLAYER screen for public matches with other Shiny Relay players (pick MY DEVICES in the room menu), or a private match with HOST and JOIN CODE. Clear lines to send garbage; the last one standing wins. It includes everything NO-WAIT 2-PLAYER does.
Patch your ROM
1. Your ROM file
A dump of your own cartridge: the 256 KiB file, or the full 2 MiB chip. It must be v1.4 (CRC-32 A1378C6B); any other file is refused and nothing is changed.
2. The patch
3. Patch and save
Good to know
- Everything happens on this computer. The page never sends your file anywhere.
- The patches contain no game code: only our own code and the places where it hooks in. We check every patch against the original game, and none of its bytes appear in them. Without your own ROM file they do nothing.
- Play the patched file from a flash cart in a Chromatic with Shiny Relay, or in an emulator.
- Shiny Relay firmware builds with patch support can also apply these patches on the Chromatic while the game runs, with no ROM file (SYSTEM > PATCHES). The release firmware on install.shinyrelay.com does not include that yet.
- Raw patch files, if you use your own patcher: mrt14_a_netlink.ips (SHA-256 cfdb681f...4c03b), mrt14_b_party.ips (SHA-256 75880fc6...bf1).
