PARTY BATTLE for Tetris
A patch for ModRetro Tetris v1.4 only, made to play over the internet on a Chromatic with Shiny Relay.
What it does
- No-lag 2-player: 2-player modes over Shiny Relay without waiting on the link, so inputs do not lag. Start MULTIPLAYER, then HOST on one Chromatic and JOIN CODE on the other. On a real link cable the game plays as before.
- PARTY: a public battle with up to 100 other Shiny Relay players: MULTIPLAYER, PARTY, then MY DEVICES in the room menu. Clear lines to send garbage. The last one standing wins.
Patch your cartridge
The cartridge page does it all, over USB, from Chrome or Edge on a computer:
- It reads your Tetris from the cartridge (or uses a copy you saved before) and saves a copy on your computer: your way back.
- The page patches the game in your browser and writes it to the cartridge.
- To go back, the page puts your backup on the cartridge again.
- It takes about 5 minutes with the backup.
- Only Tetris v1.4. For another version, update the cartridge with ModRetro's Cart Clinic first.
- Cart Clinic may not recognise a patched cartridge until the original is back on it.
- The patch needs a Chromatic with Shiny Relay. Without it, the game plays as the original.
Or patch a file yourself
For emulator users. Pick your own copy of the game. This page patches it in your browser and gives you the patched file to save. Nothing is uploaded.
1. Your ROM file
A copy of your own cartridge, such as the game file the cartridge page saves as a backup: the 256 KB file, or the full 2 MB chip. It must be v1.4 (CRC-32 A1378C6B). Any other file is refused and nothing is changed.
2. The patch
3. Patch and save
Good to know
- Everything happens on this computer. The page never sends your file anywhere.
- The patch contains no game code: only our own code and the places where it hooks in. Without your own copy of the game they do nothing.
- The patched file is for an emulator. To play on a Chromatic, use the cartridge page above: it writes the same patch to your cartridge.
- Patch file, if you use your own BPS patcher: mrt14_b_party_v6.bps.
